The results surpassed both the company’s and Wall Street’s expectations, underlining how Microsoft and other big tech firms have been winners in the coronavirus pandemic. “Digital adoption curves aren’t slowing down,” Satya Nadella, Microsoft’s chief executive, said in a statement. “They’re accelerating.”

Spotify Launches Podcast Subscriptions to Challenge Apple, Promising No Creator Fees for Two Years

Spotify’s newly launched paid-subscription podcast prog offer creators far more attractive economic terms and reach than Apple. For the first two years, Spotify’s podcast subscriptions will carry no creator fees, so participants will receive 100% of the subscriber revenue (excluding payment-transaction fees). Starting in 2023, Spotify plans to take a 5% cut of subscription revenue.

Spotify is raising prices for lots of its plans

Spotify is increasing the price of many of its subscriptions this week across the UK and parts of Europe, with the US seeing a hike to Family plans. Subscribers have started to receive emails informing them of the changes, and they will affect Student, Duo, and Family plans across parts of Europe and the UK, and Family subscriptions in the US from April 30th. Single Spotify Premium subscriptions are unaffected.

Hasbro Sells eOne’s Music Business for $385 Million

Hasbro announced that it has entered into a definitive agreement to sell Entertainment One Music (eOne Music) for $385 million. eOne Music will be acquired by entities controlled by Blackstone, which also owns the performing rights organization SESAC, and “will focus on building a creator-first music brand with global scale and expertise,” according to the announcement.

Night Media And Jukin Media Launch ‘Views,’ An NFT Sales Platform For Digital Creators 

Talent management company Night Media and user-generated content licensing business Jukin Media are launching joint venture Views, which will mint and vend non-fungible tokens (NFTs) from digital content creators. Views will launch in the first week of May.
