In a giant stride to take creative control, Knight has launched Knight Choreography and Music Publishing Inc. Knight shot to fame after crafting the moves in Beyonce’s “Single Ladies (Put a Ring on It)” video, since then, he has become her go-to, choreograph the artist’s tours and her epic Coachella performances.

Streaming TV, Films Drive Surge In Graphic Novel Sales

Many of the biggest hits on such streaming services as Netflix and Disney+ have been adapted from comics and graphic novels. Comics properties that have been adapted range from eccentric indie comics titles–for example, Charles Forsman’s The End of the F****** World on Netflix–to highly promoted superhero franchise series, among them WandaVision on Disney+ and The Boys on Amazon Prime.

YouTube Class Action: Plaintiff Can’t Identify Piracy Without Access to Content ID 

Maria Schneider’s class action lawsuit against YouTube has taken another unusual turn. The complaint alleges massive infringement but thus far identifies no infringing videos. YouTube wants to know exactly what it’s dealing with but Schneider says that since she has no access to Content ID – a big part of why the complaint was originally filed – she can’t easily provide that information.

Music legends demand the UK government ‘fix streaming’?

The stature of the artists calling for the UK government to enforce “equitable remuneration” on streaming services just went blockbuster. An open letter has been sent ahead of the politicians leading the Parliamentary Inquiry into streaming making recommendations to the UK government (and Boris Johnson) about whether political intervention is needed in the way that royalties are paid out by streaming services in the UK, and where this money goes.

Black Astronaut Character Aku Is First NFT Optioned for Film and TV

Aku, a young Black astronaut NFT character created by Micah Johnson, an artist and former MLB player, has been optioned for TV and film projects by Anonymous Content and Permanent Content, a joint venture of Shawn Mendes and his manager, Andrew Gertler. It’s believed to be the first time that an NFT property has been optioned by a major production company.

EU Copyright Directive: Further clarity on Art. 17 at EU level but also national concerns

According to Art. 17 of the DSM Directive, the European Commission must develop guidelines with the participation of all relevant stakeholders. In particular, “best practices” are to be developed there, with special consideration of the fundamental rights affected. After many years of difficult negotiations, the EU Commission has now announced that the guidelines should be presented on April 19.
