Music executives say that a deluge of new music — and the difficulty of influencing TikTok’s algorithm — has made artist development and building an audience harder than ever for new acts. “It’s a bigger and more level playing field, and everything is getting lost,” says Chris Anokute, who co-manages Muni Long. “Everyone’s an artist, but almost nobody’s breaking.”
