A blockchain sleuth was able to trace the funds obtained through the sale of Seth Green’s stolen NFTs. ZachXBT wrote that he was able to trace the movement of the crypto that the scammer obtained by selling the stolen NFTs, even though the hacker laundered “large amounts of crypto through small transactions,” a technique known as “peel chain.” After that, the scammer sent the funds back to their wallet.

Warner Records UK has teamed up with audio company Bose to offer a collection of 5,000 “utility-enabled” audio-visual NFTs entirely for free (if you buy a Bose product, that is). In a press statement announcing the NFT release, Warner Records claims that it “is the first major label to give collectors full creative and commercial freedom through ownership of the copyright”.

EU lawmakers gave the thumbs up on Tuesday to landmark rules to rein in tech giants such as Alphabet unit Google, Amazon , Apple , Facebook and Microsoft , but enforcement could be hampered by regulators’ limited resources. In addition to the rules known as the Digital Markets Act (DMA), lawmakers also approved the Digital Services Act (DSA), which requires online platforms to do more to police the internet for illegal content.

Napster Music Inc., the music streaming service, announced the publication of its Litepaper V1 which outlines its plans to apply Web3 technology to its existing business and millions of users in order to improve how music makers, rights holders and fans can interact.
An extension of ERC-721, the standard ERC-4907 implements the time-limited role of ‘user’ and authorizes automatic expiration through the innovative ‘expires’ function. The addition of the ‘expires’ feature is integral to the process of NFT rentals, no longer requiring NFT owners to manually withdraw user rights – complicated by the multiple simultaneous leasing of NFT assets – resulting in reduced gas costs.

A decentralized internet still largely under the control of huge, centralized businesses is…. erm…. clearly not a decentralized internet. Big businesses are elbows out and pushing for their Metaverse patch, and rightly so as they can feel the fresh winds of change blowing through Rights Owner Alley. Things are being disrupted. For large scale businesses, decentralization is a threat because they can’t buy it, and to embrace it they have to change, and big boats turn slowly.
