After Sotheby’s delayed its marquee New York sales of impressionist, modern and contemporary art from their usual, mid-May spot to June 29, the house said Friday it has decided to transform this traditional evening sale into a telethon-style format that will be live-streamed online. No collectors will be allowed to participate in the actual saleroom.
