Musicians Seek Residual Payments From Streamed Programs

Musicians behind the soundtracks to hits like “The Handmaid’s Tale” and “The Marvelous Mrs. Maisel” are seeking better pay from films and TV shows that go directly to streaming services. The musicians’ union says many of its 80,000 members have taken a 75% pay cut, as more content moves to streaming. The union is seeking residual payments from direct-to-streaming programs—something writers, actors and directors have already secured.
