Inside the media industry’s struggle to take on Silicon Valley

Executives from some of the biggest U.S. news organizations met with a British economist last fall at Washington’s exclusive Metropolitan Club to strategize on a mutual obsession: getting their industry out from under the thumb of Google and Facebook. The meeting was part of an ongoing campaign by news publishers in the U.S. and Europe to counter the growing power of Silicon Valley.
