AI can now compose pop music and even symphonies. Here’s how composers are joining in.

For the past two centuries, composers, academics and fans of classical music have puzzled over Franz Schubert’s Symphony No. 8, which he abandoned in 1822 after writing the first two movements. Now Lucas Cantor, a Los Angeles-based composer for film and television, has finished the work Schubert started — with help from artificial intelligence that runs on a smartphone.

Media & Telecoms Companies Reveal “Self-Learning” Anti-Piracy System 

The Media Communication Union, which represents the interests of major media and telecoms companies in Russia, has revealed its new anti-piracy system. Set to be delivered to copyright holders in July, the system is said to utilize neural networks in order to self-learn while reducing the need for human intervention.

Boy George inks deal to market songs, recoup copyrights

Boy George believes he has lost hundreds of millions in royalty fees over the decades and wants to stop the bleeding. The gender-bending pop star and the band he fronted, Culture Club, are linking up  with independent music publishing firm Primary Wave to recoup the rights — and future profits — to hit songs like “Karma Chameleon” and “Do You Really Want to Hurt Me?”.

AI Generated Music Gets $1.8M Boost With Amadeus Code Investment 

AI music generation platform Amadeus Code has landed $1.8 million in Series A funding.The round was led by VC firm World Innovation Lab. WiL’s Masataka Matsumoto will join coompany’sboard. Amadeus Code is an artificial intelligence-powered songwriting assistant that breaks melodies down into their constituent parts (“licks”) and transforms them into data.

Hollywood Producer Raises $100 Million for Media-Focused Security Token 

Proxima Media, a firm founded by film producer Ryan Kavanaugh, has raised $100 million for a token that allows investment in film, TV and music. Proxicoin is built on the ethereum blockchain and allows fractional ownership of film, television, music and other IP-driven content even for small investors, according to the firm.
