Taryn Southern’s new album is produced entirely by AI

Singer-songwriter and YouTuber Taryn Southern has decided to push the limits of AI composition, putting the sound of her new album into the “hands” of four AI programs: Amper Music, IBM’s Watson BeatGoogle’s Magenta, and AIVA. Aptly titled I Am AI, the album will be the first of its kind to be fully composed with and totally produced by AI when it releases in May.

Facebook Licensing Deadline Nears For Indie Musicians

Self-published songwriters and independent music publishers have until March 12th to opt in to a standardized direct music-licensing and administration deal with Facebook. The social network has engaged HFA’s Rumblefish service to offer to publishers and songwriters the opportunity to enter into a direct license agreement with Facebook.

Copyright and Freedom to Publish Take Center Stage at IPA Congress

The theme for this year’s event was “Where Innovation Meets Experience,” and it was touched upon numerous times throughout the congress. Pallante, for example, said publishers need to acknowledge the growing challenges to copyright, often resulting from technological advances that are outpacing publishers’ ability to respond.
