Music licensing platform Songtradr is getting some serious backing: the US-based company has signed a long-term partnership with Milamber Ventures PLC – the UK-based media, technology and education growth accelerator.

The company says the investment will be used to expand its sales and marketing capabilities, as well as bolster its technology and operations infrastructure and support.

Some in the music industry had always been suspicious of Westergren’s memories of being a starving musician. For years, Pandora’s business model had been built on copyright law provisions that allowed the company to act as an online radio network, and play any song it wanted, without having to ask rights holders for permission.

As previously rumored, the troubled streaming platform’s CEO, Tim Westergren, is leaving the company. Westergren is joined through the exit door by Pandora’s President (and former CFO) Mike Herring, in addition to CMO Nick Bartle, who only joined the company nine months ago.
For the media, entertainment and broadcast industry, there is little reference to the technology, which is strange, given the opportunity. Aside from the obvious use cases relating to transaction processing, content is unique information, which is exactly what digital currencies are.
