Bandnamevault.com Launches Blockchain Name Registration Service for Bands 

Using a customized search engine that draws data from multiple major music services and databases artists can now search potential new band names for free. Once an artist finds an available name, for $15 they can create an immutable record of that name, and critically all of their uses of that name including every gig, recording, public performance or other appearance.

The new gatekeepers: Streaming platforms are taking over the music industry

Already the place where users went to listen to music, it was easy enough for platforms to become the discovery platform of choice for their users. Spotify’s Discover Weekly hit 5 billion listens just 10 months after launching. With just about 100 million users, that’s about 50 new songs discovered via Discover Weekly per Spotify user.

Blockchain Startup DECENT Opens Chinese Office 

On Thursday, October 20th, the Lujiazui’s China Financial Information Center will become the host of the grand opening of JadeValue offices in Shanghai, China. CashBus’ wholly-owned subsidiary prepares itself for becoming a part of busting financial ecosystem of Shanghai, and DECENT will be one of 40 companies moving into the new offices.

Projecting Trends: Accelerating the Future of Music

This month, Techstars, one of the most prominent startup accelerators globally, announced that they’re launching a program specifically for music startups. Their program will admit 10 music startups that will receive $120k investment each and office space in Los Angeles. The program is funded by companies like Sony, Warner, Sonos, and Harmonix, and is run by Bob Moczydlowsky, the former Head of Music at Twitter.

Pandora Unveils Promotional Tools for Artists, Labels 

The new promotional tools are rolling out on the heels of Pandora’s first direct-licensing deals with the major record labels in its nearly 17-year history. Pandora struck the deals in order to launch an on-demand, $10-a-month subscription offering—due out by year’s end—that would compete with services such as Spotify AB, Apple Inc.’s Apple Music and the new Amazon Music Unlimited.
